About

The Asian Marine Mammal Stranding Network (AMMSN) is a non-political, science based network dedicated to promoting the best practice of marine mammal stranding response and management through the open and free exchange of information, data, materials, methods and protocols in order to conserve marine mammals and their habitats in the Asian region.

The very first Regional Symposium and Workshop was held in Subic, Philippines in 2013 resulting to the establishment of the ASEAN Marine Mammal Stranding Network. The founding member nations/ states included the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Singapore. The 2nd Symposium was held in Thailand in 2016. Many other new member nations have joined since then, including Cambodia, Myanmar, Japan, Timor Leste, India, and China, and thus warranted the expansion of the coverage of the network and eventual change in name - the Asian Marine Mammal Stranding Network.
